Rías Baixas is one of Spain’s finest white wine regions and an increasingly impressive source of reds and sparkling wines. It is proudly and uniquely Galician.
The record 266 wines I tasted for this 73-page report were sampled over a period of nine days in Rías Baixas in July 2025 and in London in November. It’s the biggest selection I’ve tasted yet and includes several exciting new names, not least Tempos Vega Sicilia’s maiden release of Deiva.
All in all, I assessed wines from 76 of Rías Baixas’s 177 producers, including most of the top whites and reds, as well as a broad selection of what the region has to offer at cheaper price points. An impressive 42 wines scored 95 points or more. Of those, one received 99 points, three 98 points and six 97 points.
The report also includes an in-depth overview of the region’s history, climate, grape varieties and terroirs, as well as vintage reports, restaurant recommendations and suggestions for further reading. In short, it’s the most extensive guide to the Denominación de Origen in English.
