At the end of last year, I returned to the DO Navarra to produce this second Special Report for Tim Atkin. It is no secret that I believe Navarra to be one of the most exciting winemaking regions in Spain, and even further afield. From some of the best Garnachas in the world, to beautiful, aged blends and spectacular rosés, the diversity of the region continues to surprise.
Producers are focused on renewal and innovation, and there is a sense of dynamism among the region’s growers. The wines in this report include many new releases, from classy white wines to elegant, gastronomic rosés, all of which add to the diversity of a region dominated by red wines.
Over the course of a week, I tasted wines from 54 producers, with visits to 23 bodegas. In total, I tasted 335 wines to produce this Top 100. Enjoy!
