Description

At 192 pages, my 2025 Chile Special Report is a comprehensive guide to the world’s seventh-largest producer.

Based on a three-week trip to the country in December 2024, during which I covered more than 3,000 kilometres, it features 1,096 wines from 172 wineries. 819 of these scored 90 points or more and have their own tasting note. Seven wines scored more than 97 points and two received 98 points.

Chile is facing considerable challenges at the moment: low mass-market prices, oversupply, the decline of the Chinese market, President Trump’s tariffs and the effects of climate change. But, as I argue in the report, it is also producing the greatest and most diverse wines in its history, making the most of its unique geographical position. The 2024 vintage, like 2022, 2021 and 2018 before it, has produced some world-class whites and reds.

My in-depth report tells you everything you need to know about the current Chilean wine scene. As well as my tastings notes, it features my annual classification of the country’s best bodegas, an extensive overview of its terroirs, grape varieties, economics, wine styles and recent vintages, photos of the leading winemakers and viticulturists and recommendations for further reading as well as the best places to eat and drink.
