Description
Rías Baixas is one of Spain’s most exciting regions right now, for both whites and reds, producing wines that are uniquely and proudly Galician.
The 234 wines I tasted for this 63-page report were sampled over a period of eight days in Rías Baixas in July 2023 and in London in November. It’s the biggest selection I’ve tasted yet.
All in all, I assessed wines from 61 of Rías Baixas’ 178 producers, including most of the top whites and reds, as well as a broad selection of what the region has to offer at cheaper price points. An impressive total of 36 wines scored 95 points or more. Of those, two received 98 points and eight 97 points.
The report also includes an in-depth overview of the region’s history, climate, grape varieties and terroirs, as well as vintage reports, restaurant recommendations and suggestions for further reading. In short, it’s the most extensive and authoritative guide to the Denominación de Origen in English.
