2016 Burgundy Special Report

Description

2016 is the smallest crop of the last decade in Burgundy, owing to a combination of frost, hail and mildew. But small in this case is often beautiful. The 2016s may not have the sheer power and concentration of the more hyped 2015s, but they are every bit as enjoyable in their way. I think this a vintage to buy selectively, as long as you have the right, independent advice.

This is my eighth annual overview of the world’s most fascinating wine region. Based on a month of tastings and visits in the region, as well as a further week of tastings back in London, it’s my most comprehensive Burgundy report yet, running to 227 pages and more than 65,000 words.

It includes:

  • Scores for over 2,700 wines
  • Tasting notes for my favourite 800 wines of the vintage
  • A detailed overview of the 2016 growing season
  • My 200 best-value wines of the year
  • Recommended restaurants
  • A selection of my award-winning photographs

All this for less than the price of a bottle of Fixin at £25
